Tales from the property front line: housing benefit caps and the changing face of London
Lettings agent, Westminster: "This capping of one-bed housing allowance at £250 and two beds at £280 a week is quite a bombshell. My cheapest one-bed is £265pw and that is really scuzzy. My cheapest 2-bed is £350pw. Well before April all my Landlords will be giving notice on the DSS tenants. Nobody on DSS will be able to live here anymore, it is going to seriously alter the demographic round here... Still, we'll always have the MPs... they only want one beds but at least their allowance is £335pw."
