Rightmove's sacking
Breaking early morning news... Rightmove is apparently waving goodbye to 20% of its workforce, as the housing slump bites, and agents get increasingly antsy with listings charges.

Was wondering what you guys made of this news - it's not surprising given the current climate but their decision to spend through has raised a few eyebrows i think - they're already by far the established UK destination for house listings so spending a million on marketing at a time when they're putting 60 people out of work seems like a bit of a kick in the teeth for those employees. Or maybe I'm being too simplistic...

@Rich - nice to hear from you. PropertyLive is clearly about to get a whole lot of marketing, it's free to members, members are skint right now, the technology's ubiquitous. Rightmove's last USP is that it's the market leader, the place where homebuyers go first. I wonder whether their tactics are about defending that USP?
@Medhead... a savvy business woman with such a light touch when it comes to marketing. I wouldn't normally publish this kind of comment... but yours made me laugh, and life's too short.

Cheers Ben, I understand what you're saying and of course it makes sense, but from the perspective of some poor soul clearing out their desk at Rightmove's HQ it might be a bitter pill to swallow. I think I need to stop siding with the little man!
