She has a point.
There was never some "golden age" of housing when every blue collar worker could get up one day buy a semi-detached house and leave the back-door unlocked cos you trusted your neighbours.
In the old days people usually got married first. Now every 30something altar-dodger expects a 2 bed victorian flat with a garden.
