Expect torrent of properties to hit the market... any... second... NOW
According to Henry Pryor of Primemove.com the market is about to be flooded by properties. Easter's always busy, but information coming into Primemove suggests the volume may be up on last year by as much as 13%. According to Pryor:
It would seem that many sellers are keen to beat the 1st June introduction of the ill conceived Home Information Packs. With many estate agents now encouraging vendors to commence the marketing of their property before this arbitrary deadline we can expect even more to do so over the next six weeks.

Well round here (the south west) there is no increase in activity at all & everyone is saying what's all the fuss about. There is a relative shortage of properties & absolutely no signs of sudden panicking to get on the market even though some of the more dinosaur-like agents are egging them on to do so. Hardly surprising - are people really going to change their home selling plans to save 3 or 400 quid? Are they heck.

It may still be a little early to tell if there's going to be a last minute rush. I own an estate agents office in North London and we are finding that a surprisingly high number of people are still unaware of the implementation date. This is likely to change as we get closer to the date and the Mail and Express up their quota of scare stories.
I don't think the additional costs will make people rush to market before June but the confusion that still surrounds the whole issue in the minds of the public may.
