DIY home sales

The Telegraph takes a look at a handful of the latest and greatest websites offering an opportunity for movers to sell without the estate agency fees. The piece focuses on The Little House Company, HouseNetwork, AcreProperty and PrivateHQ. They're making little impact on Rightmove in terms of visitor stats, but that doesn't mean there aren't dramatic success stories. Read more here.

Comments

Dear Rat and Mouse,

The Daily Telegraph erroneously commented on the "lack of a large portal to act as a one-stop online shop for sellers."

Propertiesdirect is making huge strides in this area having between 2-3000 properties listed by private sellers at any one time (from a standing start in July 2006.)

There are 23 registered uploading private property sales websites including notable names such as HomeSell (the online form of Friday-Ads) and a very wide distribution across the countryside.

We are adding new uploading sites and listings all the time and expect to continue to grow rapidly.

This gives buyers a unique opportunity to search one central website for private sellers (even in a distant location) from the comfort of their own homes.

We have already commented on the Telegraph omission in their feedback section but you may wish to make your own comments as a service to your dedicated readers.

Long may you continue your invaluable service! Can we please have more photos of overturned Foxton's Minis?

Best regards

Jim Craft, Propertiesdirect
